It’s clear this forward-thinking South West firm has a clear and well-executed growth strategy. With a well-balanced and deliberate mix of organic growth and acquisitions, Monahans has achieved an impressive 22 per cent increase in revenue year-on-year.

Acquisitions have been highly targeted, being based both on geographical location and the additional skills that the now enlarged firm could provide to clients. It has also invested in specialisms, including partners specialising in private client tax, the not-for-profit sector and wealth management.

Monahans demonstrate an admirable commitment to its employees, recognising them as essential for future growth. For example, it identified engagement champions to forge strong links between staff and senior managers. This emphasis on staff wellbeing has not only helped the firm retain key talent, but will, ensure they continue to deliver a quality service as they grow in future.

How did it feel to win Practice Growth Firm of the Year?

Winning Practice Growth Firm of the Year was a great experience and I was proud to accept the award, together with some of my fellow partners, on behalf of the practice. The award is great recognition for the whole firm, and for everyone who has played a part in the continued growth and success of MHA Monahans.

How has winning the Accounting Excellence Award for Practice Growth Firm of the Year impacted your firm?

Winning the award has reaffirmed our position as one of the leading independent accountancy firms in the country, and given our staff, clients and associates confidence in our commitment, dedication and future plans.

Growth, innovation and development are our cornerstones, however, it was always crucial for us not to lose sight of the most important part – the people who we work for and the people who work for us. To have the judges support this commitment was great praise indeed and we continue to build on these solid foundations.

Our strategic direction remains centred on the skills and expertise of our team. We continue to welcome many new clients attracted by our breadth and depth of services, as well as new colleagues from across the region. We harness their skills and passion to expand the services we offer and make the most of a changing landscape where, in many instances, our role as a business advisor is more than just accounting but also supporting someone’s professional and personal life.

Our staff remain committed to the firm and feel listened to and valued and we’re proud that our people-focused approach enables us to recruit and retain the best professionals.

What advice would you give to anyone entering the awards? Or thinking of entering the awards?

Go for it! The process for entering is straightforward and winning is a great experience for a firm. Being part of awards as prestigious as these also give your clients and staff additional confidence in the business – and a perfect reason to celebrate everyone’s successes.
