Rachel Pugh, Director Head of Operations at Seymour Taylor tells us about how it feels to be an Accounting Excellence winner, and what winning this award means for their firm.

How does it feel to win the Investing in People Award?

As a firm we were honoured to receive the Investing in People award. At Seymour Taylor an important part of our vision and company values is to create a fantastic work environment for our team so that we can attract and retain talented individuals. We are proud of our team and everything they have achieved, which helps to drive our business forward. We recognise the importance of providing our team with professional and personal development, giving them clear career paths and rewarding them for all of their hard work. How will winning the 2019 Accounting Excellence Award for Investing in People impact your firm?

Winning the award will have the following impact on our firm

  • It highlights our work as a firm in the promotion and implementation of a learning and development culture for our team . This sends a positive messages to our internal team, clients, potential clients and for the recruitment of new team members who may be looking to join us
  • Enhances our brand awareness locally and nationally through the promotion of our awards. We promote our award wins on social media, within new business packs, on our website, within local business networking groups and we highlight our awards on marketing materials such as adverts, press releases etc.
  • For new clients looking to work with us it gives them reassurance that they are working with an award winning business, which is striving to develop and stay ahead of the competition.
  • Ultimately our aim is to develop new business and additional profit

What advice would you give to anyone entering the awards, or thinking of entering the awards next year?

Start to prepare early. Get your data prepared for any awards that you want to enter as generally most awards will ask to see how you are performing financially. You need to be able to bring your firm to life in your entry and give good examples with solid facts and figures to strengthen your entry.
