We interviewed Nigel Fright, Managing Partner at Kreston Reeves about being named a finalist across multiple categories for this year’s awards:
What does it mean to you to be one of the Accounting Excellence Top 5 firms in the Large Firm, Client Service and Investing in People Award categories this year?
It is a real honour to be recognised across these three categories – to be a triple finalist is a great achievement and is a true marker of the hard work and dedication my colleagues show each and every day.
We know that client care and the development and wellbeing of our people is fundamental to our business success so we are particularly proud to have been shortlisted in the categories that relate to all three.
What achievement in the last year are you most proud of?
We are proud to have achieved strong periods of sustained growth driven by investment in our people, clients and communities. Particularly the investment and expansion of our Corporate Finance team to build strong foundations for the future, following the merger with SamCorp and the appointment of Jack Clipsham as Corporate Finance Partner. Growth and the strengthening of our capabilities across our service lines has been just one of the major themes underpinning activity over the past 12 months, with our hugely successful Going for Growth campaign for fast-growing businesses and our involvement in the annual MegaGrowth 50 awards, both as a sponsor and as being named one of the 50 fastest growing businesses in the region.
Another significant achievement is the launch of our Wellbeing programme for our teams, which includes mental health awareness training, wellbeing ambassadors across the offices, and a programme of activities and events throughout the year.
What are you going to be focusing on in the next 12 months?
We will continue to focus on our five business priorities – clients, people, expertise, communities, and the continuous development of technology. We have a programme of activity for each of these.
What would be your top tip/tips for firms aspiring to achieve excellence in the profession?
People are absolutely key and fundamental to a firm’s success. Focusing on technical and soft-skills training, development and general wellbeing and happiness of your people must be central to your business plan in order to deliver world class client care.
