Sharon Pocock, MD and Chief Innovator at Kinder Pocock, reflects on the past year and how their team pulled through for their clients.
How does it feel to win the Hero Award for Accounting firm?
Very humbling. The whole team has pulled out all the stops to make sure that our clients have been supported and aware of all the changes from before the first lockdown, so it’s great that their efforts and care have been recognised. I’m so proud of all of us!
One of our core values is “Act with Happiness and Love” and we have really lived into this during COVID, constantly checking in on each other and our clients to make sure everyone is OK.
How will winning the 2020 Accounting Excellence Award for Hero Accounting firm impact your firm after a difficult year like this one?
This has indeed been a very tough year for everyone, and I think most accountants are feeling exhausted. This will give the whole team a huge boost and something really good and worthwhile to celebrate.
Our clients have been on the whole hugely appreciative of our care and attention, and for being there, and this award validates this.
What advice would you give to anyone entering the awards, or thinking of entering the awards next year?
Go for it! It’s a great way to reflect on your journey and achievements, even if you don’t get to the finalist or winning stage.
What does accounting excellence mean to you?
Having the highest standards, always innovating, and always doing the best you possibly can for your team and clients.
