The Specialist Team of the Year is an important category within the Accounting Excellence Awards that has evolved over the years. The requirement for firms to specialise in niche areas has become key for independent firm success. We spoke with Zoe Toseland from E3 Consulting about being a finalist this year.
What does it mean to you to be one of the Accounting Excellence Top 5 firms in the Specialist Team of the Year category this year?
It’s very rewarding to be recognised as one of the Accounting Excellence Top 5 Firms in the Specialist Team of the Year category. It’s testament to all the hard work that our dedicated and highly skilled property taxation team has contributed in the last year. This is the first time we have entered the Accounting Excellence awards and it is very positive to be acknowledged as such.
What achievement in the last year are you most proud of?
This year we have been celebrating the business’s 15th anniversary, in what has been our most successful financial year to date in terms of growing turnover by over 15%. This has been underpinned by gaining new clients working on a range of large, high profile projects as well as expanding our work with existing clients – several of whom we’re please so say we have worked with for the entirety of our 15 years and over 70% of our clients relationships are long term, where not one-off projects.
What are you going to be focusing on in the next 12 months?
Through continued delivery of our robust reporting measures, we aim to further develop our relationships with existing clients offering high quality advice to deliver cost effective and consistent results. Subsequently, we aim to grow our client base further and continue to outperform the previous year’s results. We will be focusing on continued expansion of the business both in terms of growing our turnover, profitability and team. This will ensure we can continue to maintain our robust delivery and ensure the success of the business for another 15 years and beyond!
What would be your top tip/tips for firms aspiring to achieve excellence in the profession?
Our top tip would be to always focus on providing exemplary client service. Achieving excellence is about recognising the value in building and maintaining strong long term relationships with clients; whilst also having a genuinely enquiring mind and flexible approach to understanding the client’s perspective and requirements. Only by doing so can you truly add meaningful value to your client’s business.
